Indigenous Wisdom Curriculum Professional Development Sessions

With the support of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is working to advance our popular Indigenous Wisdom Curriculum, with the goal of reaching additional K-12 educators throughout New Mexico in 2023. Our effort is focused on adding STEM instruction to enhance the current curriculum with a concentration on science-related topics.

Endorsed by the State of New Mexico Indian Advisory Council, the current curriculum contains over 120 lesson plans; to date, it has assisted over 300 teachers to educate thousands of students about the factors that shape Natives’ community, governmental, cultural, and personal relationships.

With this current initiative, two-unit plans were recently completed. The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center will be hosting 3 Professional Development sessions to gather feedback from participant via evaluations. Participants will submit a teacher evaluation on elements, including the unit plans and their connections to Standard and Core Curriculum, Student Centeredness, Instructional Design/Usability, and Assessment.

Participants will receive a stipend for their attendance and participation in the session(s) they attend.

Upcoming Session will be hosted from 9AM to 12PM at the Indian Pueblo Culture Center. A confirmation email will be sent a week prior to the date with more information. Click on link to register.
