Termination And Re-Location: Federal Indian Policy, 1945-1960 By Donald L. Fixaco (Shawnee, Sac, Fox, Muscogee Creek, Seminole)
Each year, the U.S. commemorates Native American / Alaska Native Heritage Month in November. For some, it’s a time of remembrance of the legacy and culture of U.S. Indigenous peoples. For others, it is a time to learn the untold narrative of the struggles and the resiliency of the Indigenous peoples. Termination And Re-Location: Federal Indian Policy, 1945 – 1960 is a reflective expośe of policies drafted to further integrate the Indian population with mainstream America—policies that didn’t seek Native input or account for how societal constructs would contribute to its controversial outcomes.
