“Pueblo Matriarch” Public Art Installation Opening
04:00 pm - 07:00 pm MDT
Join the Albuquerque Community Foundation, Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, and artist Greyshoes (Upton Ethelbah Jr.) as we celebrate the public art installation of the “Pueblo Matriarch”, a sculpture commissioned in honor of Albuquerque Community Foundation’s 40th anniversary in 2021, in partnership with IPCC and donated to the City of Albuquerque’s Public Art collection. A fabricated steel sculpture standing 20 feet tall, “Pueblo Matriarch” is a stylized Pueblo corn dancer, a traditional dance in Pueblo communities, a prayer to the Creator for a good harvest, plenty of rain for the crops, and prosperity for all. The sculpture will be located at the traffic circle at 12th Street and Menaul, just north of IPCC.
