Pueblo Book Club: The Other Slavery: The Uncovered Story of Indian Enslavement in America
02:00 pm - 04:00 pm MDT
This Pueblo Book Club will be offered both online (Zoom) and in person in the Chaco III room at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center at 2pm.
In 2019, a narrative on the introduction of African slaves into American colonies in 1619 ignited a reawakening—a reexamination of the founding of the U.S. However, slavery and forced servitude was inflicted upon the Indigenous peoples of the Americas by the Spanish and Portuguese more than a century before the colonization of America. The Other Slavery: The Uncovered Story of Indian Enslavement in America, a National Book Award finalist, offers a horrific account of the actions supported by church and crown, of humans denying other humans the right to existence. You can purchase this book at the Indian Pueblo Store and at the online store here.
