PUEBLO POTTERY EXPERIENCE
Approx. 60 minutes
The Pueblo Pottery Experience invites visitors of all grade levels to explore the rich traditions of Pueblo pottery through a hands-on activity. Inspired by the Grounded in Clay exhibit, participants will examine pottery materials and designs before creating their own take-home artwork using air-dry clay. Guided by beginner techniques such as pinch-pot forming, this experience encourages creativity while fostering a deeper appreciation for Pueblo artistic traditions. For younger audiences, the activity also includes an interactive story time that highlights the cultural significance of pottery, making the experience both accessible and meaningful for learners of all ages.
Gatherings: Seek, Find, READ!
Approx. 60 minutes
Gatherings: Seek, Find, Read! invites elementary students to participate in a dynamic, interactive Storytime that celebrates Indigenous authors and illustrators while introducing young learners to the joy of library exploration. Through movement, props, guided story interactions, and discussion, students engage with stories in active and meaningful ways while learning more about the creative techniques and practices of Indigenous storytellers and artists. Following the Storytime, students explore the IPCC Youth Library collections, practice how to independently search for books, and take part in a related hands-on activity.
LIBRARY & RESEARCH EXPERIENCES
Discovery: Little Library
Approx. 60 minutes
Join Discovery: Little Library for an engaging, interactive Storytime designed to strengthen early literacy skills through books, songs, movement, and guided participation. Featuring Indigenous authors and illustrators from the IPCC Youth Library Collection, this experience supports young learners as they build vocabulary, listening comprehension, print awareness, narrative understanding, and confidence with language in a joyful, culturally rich setting.
Knowledge Quest: A Library Research Experience
Approx. 60 minutes
Knowledge Quest: A Library Research Experience introduces students in third grade and above to research methods that support deeper inquiry into Pueblo and Indigenous topics. Students learn how to locate and use library materials, evaluate search strategies, and explore primary sources with librarian support. Activities may be guided, collaborative, or independent, depending on grade level and group needs.
CULTURE & SOCIAL STUDIES EXPERIENCE
Pueblo History & Community Life Experience
Approx. 60 minutes
The Pueblo History & Community Life Experience is a hands-on activity for all grade levels that introduces students to Pueblo history, communities, and daily life. Guided by lessons from the IPCC Indigenous Wisdom Curriculum, students engage in interactive learning that highlights key aspects of Pueblo culture. For younger learners, the experience can also include an optional story time to deepen understanding in an engaging and accessible way.
