As you know that the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is celebrating our 50th anniversary, and we're so excited that the State of New Mexico has a wonderful message honoring this milestone.
WHEREAS, the State of New Mexico recognizes the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center's 50th Anniversary from its opening on August 28, 1976; and
WHEREAS, the 19 Pueblos of New Mexico came together in 1976 for the purposes of honoring Pueblo history, art, tradition, culture, and education; and
WHEREAS, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center exemplifies strength and sovereignty as it is located on the former lands of the Albuquerque Indian School (1881-1981); and
WHEREAS, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is located within nearly 80 acres of land governed by the 19 Pueblos of New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, the Indian Pueblo Center has devoted its mission to serving as a place of gathering, where Pueblo Culture is celebrated through creative and cultural experiences, while providing economic opportunities to Pueblo and local communities; and
WHEREAS, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center has welcomed and offered various programs, events, and national and rotating exhibitions to the local communities and to Pueblo citizens throughout the state of New Mexico, through the work of volunteers, staff, artists, and Pueblo leadership; and
WHEREAS, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center has laid a foundation for future generations to carry on this work into the next 50 years and beyond; and
NOW THEREFORE, Michelle Lujan Grisham, Governor of the State of New Mexico, hereby proclaims the 28th Day of August 2026 as: "The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center's 50th Anniversary Day" throughout the State of New Mexico.
