ALBUQUERQUE – The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (IPCC) is having a special free event commemorating its opening 50 years ago. Celebrate our 50th birthday with us with a full day of festivities and culture at IPCC on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 9am to 5pm.
Enjoy family-friendly activities for all ages including face painting, a photo booth, bingo with prizes, food trucks, Pueblo dances, nearly 50 Native vendors, and more honoring IPCC’s past, present, and future. Featured Indian Pueblo Entrepreneur Complex vendors will include SnoDen Snocones, Usekwu Foods, Lavelle’s Old School Ice Cream, Just Peachy Biscochitos, and Native Boba Tea. We will also have free themed cake pops and cupcakes while supplies last. This is a free event and includes free admission to the museum with suggested donations.
“We want everyone who walks through our doors to feel like this is a celebration for them too,” said IPCC’s Director of Guest Experiences, Monique Silva. “This is a day we can show our appreciation and give back to the community that has supported us to reach this remarkable milestone.”
Founded and owned by the 19 Pueblos of New Mexico, IPCC opened its doors on August 28, 1976, with an outdoor plaza, an exhibits gallery hall, an auditorium, and the Indian Oven restaurant.
“This is not only a space for visitors to come and go, but our center is a gateway to engage with the 19 Pueblos, whether it be through art, culture, food, or an experience,” said IPCC’s President and CEO, Monique Fragua. “This year is a testament to those who had a vision for the center, those who are here currently fulfilling our mission, and to those who will help build our future.”
As a place of empowerment to facilitate cross-cultural understanding of Pueblo people, IPCC started on 12 acres of land that formerly housed the Albuquerque Indian School and has now grown into a nearly 80-acre campus with various experiences while providing economic development opportunities for Pueblo and local communities.
