Building on a Strong Foundation: Celebrating 50 Years of IPCC

Last updated: November 12, 2025

We’re giving the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center a well-deserved exterior refresh as we prepare for our 50th anniversary in 2026. Throughout the re-stucco project, the Cultural Center remains open—most experiences are available, and we’ll post timely updates on this page and our social media platforms so you know what to expect when you visit.

What’s happening now

Area: East entrance balcony
Dates: November 12, approximately 5-10 days

Impact: East entrance will be accessible through the sidewalk on 12th Street

Area: Courtyard
Dates: Oct/Nov

Impact: Latillas in the courtyard and on the balconies and the pergola will be removed and refinished. The courtyard will remain accessible; however, some sections may be temporarily roped off for safety. Museum, galleries, shop, and dining are open. No other areas will be impacted at this time.

Project timeline

What to expect during your visit

  • We’re open. The museum, galleries, shop, and dining remain available unless otherwise noted here.
  • Clear wayfinding. Look for on-site signs and friendly staff to guide you around any work areas.
  • Occasional construction activity. You may see scaffolding or crews working on exterior walls; we’re coordinating schedules to limit disruptions.
  • Accessibility. ADA routes remain available; please ask our front desk if you need assistance with the best path during active work.

Visitor tips

  • Check this page before you come for the latest phase update.
  • Follow posted signs when you arrive—our team has you covered with clear directions.
  • Have an event or group visit? We’re coordinating closely with event teams to minimize impacts; your event contact can share the most current details.

Our commitment to preservation

Protecting our campus and artworks—indoors and out—is our top priority.

  • Professional oversight. We’re working closely with conservation professionals to safeguard sculptures and murals throughout the project.
  • Protective methods. Surfaces near murals are carefully framed and covered so they remain accessible for conservation and future touch-ups.
  • Temporary removals (if needed). Some fixtures (like lighting) may be removed and reinstalled and select sculptures may be temporarily relocated by specialists to ensure their safety.

This work helps ensure the IPCC’s architecture and artworks continue to welcome visitors for the next 50 years and beyond.

Thank you

Your patience and support are greatly appreciated. This project is an investment in our future as we prepare to celebrate 50 years of IPCC in 2026
